Arts, Culture & Heritage
The vision of the Foundation is to inspire the people of the UAE to become involved in the arts, culture, and heritage; to support the growing community of artists based in the UAE; and to help strengthen the entire local arts and cultural ecosystem
The United Arab Emirates has emerged as one of the world’s fastest growing and most vibrant hubs for the arts and culture internationally. In addition to the imminent arrival of the Guggenheim and Louvre museums, in just the past decade the United Arab Emirates has built two world-class art fairs (Abu Dhabi and Dubai) and a biennale (Sharjah), while our artists are growing in stature and recognition. We are particularly proud that the UAE is the first country in the Arab world to have been granted a permanent pavilion at the world-renowned Venice Biennale. The Salama bint Hamdan Al Nahyan Foundation has a historic opportunity to support this important and dynamic growth.
Our priority areas in arts, culture and heritage are:
- To support emerging UAE artists and those interested in careers in the arts and cultural sector by developing their skills and talents
- To build new audiences in the UAE for the arts
- To share the arts of the UAE with international audiences
- To support innovative approaches to capturing and disseminating the cultural heritage of the UAE
