A 2-day staff retreat for Salama bint Hamdan Al Nahyan Foundation
The Salama bint Hamdan Al Nahyan Foundation conducted a staff retreat last week for the purpose of creating a deeper level of understanding of the similarities and differences in work styles and in an effort to optimize team working relationships and productivity.
The staff retreat program that took place on Sir Bani Yas Island was comprised of a transformational team development based on the Myer-Briggs Type Indicator (MBTI)on the first day and team bonding activities and future planning discussions on the following day.
“The goal of this retreat is to connect the power of each individual of the team and align team member thinking, behaviors, and actions with the common goals of the Foundation to ensure success” said Dr. Salvatore LaSpada, Executive Director of Salama bint Hamdan Al Nahyan Foundation.
The outcomes of the 2-day retreat were fruitful. Through the MBTI assessment, The Foundation’s team understood the various group type indicators and how they approach problem solving, decision-making, communication, and collaboration and how to deepen respect for differing methods of work and communication styles. In addition through various learning activities a team charter was developed highlighting the team’s values and approaches to decision making.
Meera Al Mutawa, who led the retreat planning team, added: “We came away from our two days of learning, discussion and reflection even more energized to build our work.”
